Dear Brother Hughes and harvest partners,

It's now winter again in Chile, and we're trusting that this year it won't be as severe as last. Again, we remember and thank those of you who helped us with the costly repairs on two of the church buildings. Supposedly, this season will be colder, but with less rain than last year. I know all this must seem strange to you folks since you are experiencing your hot (and in many cases) humid, summer months right now.

First, we want to inform all of you that Bro. Samuel Castillo, our missionary in Puerto Montt in the south of Chile (who has among the several open doors that God has provided for him, the islands boat ministry) has now purchased and is using the "Enduro" motorcycle that some of you wonderful believers funded through your loving and sacrificial giving. Needless to say, he is thrilled with it, and informed me that it is now much easier and quicker to reach more families on the islands.! Our Lord has been so good to touch hearts and provide the money to fully take care of this, and it has been a tremendous blessing and encouragement to the Castillos and to us and the church in Las Condes that sent them out.

God has also opened another amazing door of opportunity for Bro. Samuel in a place called Lion's Pass. A lady schoolteacher and her ~husband who were both saved through Bro. Samuel's ministry in the boarding school in Cochamo for the island children and teens, have recently been transferred to a new boarding school opening in September in Lion's Pass. The lady will be the new principal of the school, and has literally begged Samuel to come over there for the same type of ministry he has at the other school. Lion's Pass is on the Argentine side of the southern Andes Mountains, yet still in Chile. To get there from Puerto Montt, he has to drive back toward the north on the Panam Highway to Osorno, then go east and over the pass into Argentina, and once there continue on south to the only road that reaches Lion's Pass from the Argentine side. This trip would take three days every month, a day to get there, a day to preach and teach there, and a third day to return to his home! Because of the severe weather there, classes do not start until September after the winter is mostly over, and continue on through the Chilean summer until May when the storms again close the pass and surrounding area. There will be between 180 and 200 full-time students interned at the school, and the principal will give Samuel the whole day each time he goes there to preach to and disciple those who respond to Christ as Lord and Savior! We ask each of you to really pray for this new open door, for the salvation of souls and the growth of those who will be saved. God bless each of you for your love and faithfulness, and for your investment in the work here these past two months of $200.00
